High Performance, low energy, compact design – the new YASKAWA A1000

inverter drive

With its new inverter drive series A1000, technology expert YASKAWA Electric presents an innovative portfolio for the performance ranges of 0.4 to 110 kW (200V) and 0.4 to 630 kW (400V).

Replacing the successful Varispeed F7, the series features both smaller dimensions and improved motor control algorithms.

The new A1000 inverters can drive a wide scope of motor types – from standard asynchronous motors, to interior (IPM) or surface mounted (SPM) permanent magnet synchronous motors. Permanent magnet motors offer the user both availability of full motor torque at standstill, and easy positioning.

A detachable digital operator with text display and copy function supports the user by offering simple parametration. Basic control functions can be carried out in the inverter drive itself. The required adaptations can be made via the „Drag and Drop” function in the graphic programming tool ‘DriveWorksEZ’. In many applications, the tool can take over part or even all of the workload of an external master controller.

The A 1000 series is equipped with a 2-channel safety function (“Safety Stop” according to EN954-1 Category 3 and IEC/EN61508 SIL 2, STO=Safe Torque OFF). The standard version also offers a safe monitor function (EDM External Device Monitor) to display the current safety status.

In addition to the standard interfaces RS485 / RS422, and many different control inputs and outputs, the inverter offers the option of integrating the common fieldbus interfaces for CANopen, Profibus, DeviceNet, MECHATROLINK and CC-Link.

Another important consideration in the development process was the reduction of material consumption. Dimensions, weight, and the number of construction elements were reduced by up to 55% compared to its predecessor model F7.

All inverter sizes were designed with the capacity to drive the next bigger sized motor, if an acceleration current of 120% suffices for the application. Operating cost can be minimized if inverters are used in combination with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. For highest efficiency levels, YASKAWA Electric also supplies matching PM motors (up to a maximum performance of 7.5 kW). The A1000 series was designed for 10 years of uninterrupted operation.

Just as all other YASKAWA Electric solutions, the A1000 offers an extremely long service life and excellent reliability due to unique quality management.
